1st notebook inking was successful, a rarity
used i think 1.2mm and 0.55mm rapidographs
it waited forever for new pens [fresh micron 05s and 08s] for line weights
i don’t know what’s going on in the pen dept at Pearl Paint
something catastrophic i’m sure

i finally finished the thing tonight
used the 1.2mm rapidograph and an old dried up micron for pushing some of the ink around

there was an extensive pencil 2nd draft that i lost
this is 3rd draft, back to ink on sketchpad

1st try in book, made right-side neck and shoulder lines too thick
less skinny less sexy
not sure why but somehow also less gay and less ominous

so i played with the line weights a little then moved to the book
spend the first 5 years try to get with the plan

i made this blog to watch my works in progress and take a hard look at my process. my apartment is too messy to observe my progress via sketches, everything is fucking everywhere. so i will watch here. if you would like, please watch too.
until recently i subscribed to Keith Haring’s philosophy that every artwork must be completed in 1 session. for awhile that was very important for me, specifically the idea of evening out unbalanced compositions immediately. now i work differently, i do drafts. partly my dayjob has to do with that, but it was a natural progression also. i often find i need to change entire large lines or people’s whole faces.
below are most of the sketches i made on the way to She which i finished a week ago. now i am working on a set of 3 drawings under 1 title and the first 3 drafts for the 1st one are above.
